Art & Affection Workshop

From 3 October to 19 December, on Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:30, the Lagoa Arts School - Mestre Fernando Rodrigues, promotes the Emotional Intelligence Development Workshop Through Arts, 🎨Art & Affection💙, led by trainer Valéria Gore, for children aged 12 to 13.

Feeling and growing together through art is the challenge of this workshop, which aims to help young people recognise, understand and express their emotions naturally and safely in a space that promotes well-being and allows free expression of emotions, feelings, and opinions; exploring the inner world and relationships with others.

The workshop aims to create conditions that facilitate personal development involving self-knowledge, emotional self-regulation, self-confidence, and social skills. We will channel and enhance the therapeutic effect of art, combined with other psychological techniques, as a vehicle for expressing various emotions and exploring our “inner palette” through the introduction and discussion of themes that encompass emotional intelligence, sharing experiences, practical activities (drawing, painting, shaping, cutting, gluing, etc.) related to the theme (e.g., knowing my Self, fear, courage, communicating with others, etc.) and final reflections. The sessions will be structured by theme, but will adapt according to the characteristics and needs of the group, always allowing flexibility for what the group wishes to express on the day. If the children wish, they can exhibit their works at the end for parents/public.

The activity will be led by Valeria Gore, a clinical psychologist, ensuring careful and personalised support for each child. Her experience allows her to identify emotional needs, support emotional management, and promote confidence, well-being, and more positive relationships with others.

The workshop is scheduled to start on 3 October and will consist of a total of 12 sessions.
