The Municipal Library of Lagoa continues with the activity 🎉Celebrating the Word🗣️, a series of events running throughout 2026. The next session will be on 30 September at 6pm, featuring a Lecture with Rui Couceiro on the theme The Most Beautiful Curse: stories of those saved by books.
The session will be presented by Maria Luísa Francisco and entry is free!
Rui Couceiro was born in Porto in 1984. He worked in publishing, first in communications at Porto Editora, then as an editor at Bertrand, where he created and directed the Contraponto imprint.
Currently, he is the curator of the literary and cultural event BABELL, promoted by the Lello Bookstore Foundation, with the support of the Porto City Council, which has brought authors such as Margaret Atwood, Salman Rushdie, Olga Tokarczuk, László Krasznahorkai, Julian Barnes, Byung-Chul Han, Héctor Abad Faciolince, Javier Cercas, Conceição Evaristo, Milton Hatoum and David Uclés to Portugal, earning the event great praise from national and international press.
As an author, he published the novel Baiôa without a date to die in 2022, which won the Manuel de Boaventura Literary Prize and was a finalist for the Portuguese Pen Club Prize. In 2024, he published the novel Morro da pena ventosa, and in 2026, The Most Beautiful Curse, a collection of true stories about people passionate about books.
Join us and Rui Couceiro for another session of the 🎉Celebrating the Word🗣️ series and participate in this lecture about the importance books can have in a person's life! 🤩🌟
