The typical architecture includes single-story houses with schist walls, whitewashed facades, colorful railings, and Algarvean chimneys. The Via Algarviana passes through the village (Sector 5 starts here).

An officially recognized Great Route (GR23 TVR) in the municipality of Tavira, about 45 km in a circuit divided into 3 stages (2-3 days). It connects three mountain villages — Mealha, Casas Baixas, and Feiteira — in the heart of the Serra do Caldeirao. Each village has a 'Centro de Descoberta do Mundo Rural', old schools converted into mountain hostels with bunk beds and kitchens. The three stages pass through gardens, grazing lands, abandoned mills, and panoramic mountain views. Well marked with red/yellow signs, arrows, wooden boards, and educational panels.
