Journey “Thinking the Territory”

Journey “Thinking the Territory” August 21, 2026 Monchique will host the participatory journey "Thinking the Territory" on August 21, organized by the Almargem Association to reflect on the future of the municipality and collaboratively build ideas for a more resilient, attractive, and sustainable territory. The initiative includes visits, a panel, and working groups on four themes related to the municipality.

In the morning, participants will be invited to better understand the territory through guided visits to the Pêro de Monchique Collection, the Municipal Nursery, and the Monchique Village Park, ending with a social picnic in the backyard of the Monchique Parish Council.

Starting at 2:00 PM, there will be an “Inspirational Panel” in the Manuel Martins Room of the Monchique Parish Council, featuring Sónia Martinho, Nuno Fidalgo, Eduardo Duarte, and José Gonçalo. Following this, the “Future Tables” will take place, where participants can contribute ideas and proposals on four key themes for the development of Monchique: Living in Monchique: How to attract new residents?; Landscape management; Tourism that values the territory; Boosting the local economy.
