16th Century. Magellan, a young and ambitious Portuguese navigator, revolts against the king's power, who does not support his dream of discovering the world. He convinces the Spanish Crown to finance his bold expedition to the legendary lands of the East. The journey proves to be tougher than expected, with hunger and mutinies pushing the crew to their limits. Upon reaching the islands of the Malay Archipelago, Magellan's mind changes. He becomes obsessed with conquest and conversion, triggering violent revolts that spiral out of his control. This is not the myth of Magellan, but the truth of his journey.
