INAUGURATION | MÃO DE BARAKA
On June 19th, at 18:00, Alfaia inaugurates the collective exhibition Mão de Baraka, curated by Susana Rodrigues. Based on the Hamsá — an ancestral symbol of protection present in different Mediterranean cultures — the exhibition brings together works by Ana André, Ana Rita Arruda, Boris Eldagsen, Daniel Costa, Gustavo Jesus, João Motta Guedes, John Whitney Sr., Mumtazz, Teresa Ramos, and Tom Haviv, proposing a reflection on spirituality, mysticism, geometry, and the invisible layers that traverse territories and communities.
📍 Alfaia – Art and Community Rua Brites de Almeida, 18 · Loulé 🗓 June 19th 🕕 18:00 Free entry.
PUBLIC PROGRAM June 21st 17:30-20:30 - Excursion to Salir, Constellations of Memory, by Filipa Araújo
- On the day of the Summer Solstice, we gather for a journey to Salir, guided by researcher Filipa Araújo, to discover the marks of Islamic heritage in the territory and its connections to the sky, solar cycles, and the memories that persist in the landscape. Between cosmology, spirituality, and the legend of the Moura Encantada, this excursion proposes a meeting with the invisible layers of history and the Algarvian imagination.
July 24th 18:00 - Conversation at the Islamic Baths of Loulé, by Filipa Araújo, sharing about the aromas and essences used during the time of Islamic occupation and their spiritual, medicinal, and social purposes.
*Free activity, subject to registration and limited to 25 participants (alfaia.org@gmail.com | producao.alfaia@gmail.com)
