"Ares and seas" by J. Eduardo
My father is a bird of the world. If he hadn't flown over lands and seas to meet my mother, I wouldn't exist. For me, there is no safer anchor than a "asabraço" from him.
Your imagination soars because it gets tired of always being on the ground. As a pilot, he crossed the skies, but it was through painting that he brought the horizon home.
When you pick up the palette, your soul spreads across the canvas. The light and shadows, created only by nature, are your muses. In each of your paintings, an inspiring window opens, with a view of the countryside or the sea. And I stay there, gliding, living in that landscape, even if just for a brief moment.
How does your talented spatula make the waves sing? Blow the warm invisible breeze in our faces? Make us smell the melancholy of the sea breeze?
In this exhibition, the Algarve is painted in oil, with the love of someone who grew up here. These smooth sands have been sifted through the hourglass of his hand. How many times must he have jumped from these rocks, with friends, cousins, and sisters? Only these "blueish" waters know. If he didn't paint these "Ares and Mares," where would his gaze flow?

Biographical summary:
He grew up admiring and enjoying the undeniable beauty of the Algarve, absorbing since his youth the light, the colors of the sea and the rocks, the beach sand, and the scent of the sea breeze. In the countryside, the gentle aroma of the cistus, the beauty of the almond blossom covering the ground. A huge collection of senses that were intensely etched in his memory. A professional pilot, he made oil painting one of his hobbies, expressing these feelings on a blank canvas, with the help of a spatula. This exhibition is a simple tribute to his Algarve.
Self-taught painter, always passionate about drawing, he has done various works in charcoal and Chinese ink, experimenting with oil painting on canvas from ages 19 to 21, the age at which he joined the Military service. In 1993, he resumed contact with oil painting, holding his first Solo Exhibition in 1994 at the APPLA Gallery in Lisbon. A member of the National Society of Fine Arts, he is mentioned in the books «Aspectos das Artes Plásticas III em Portugal», «Arte 98» and «Anuário de Artes Plásticas 2003» by Fernando Infante do Carmo. He is represented in the DVDs «Naturalismo: Arte Maior Vol. 4 e 5» and «Figurativo nas Artes Plásticas em Portugal no Séc. XXI» by Afonso Almeida Brandão.
Until October 2, the exhibition can be visited, for free, from Monday to Friday from 09:30 AM to 12:00 PM and / or from 02:30 PM to 05:00 PM.
