Alcaria

Odeleite Dam
A large reservoir built in 1996 on the Odeleite River, the main water storage infrastructure in the eastern Algarve. A well-preserved mountain village on the Via Algarviana (Sector 2: Balurcos to Furnazinhas, 14.3 km). It holds many cultural traditions of the rural Algarve, including esparto and palm crafts, bobbin lace, and cane basketry. The surrounding landscape features the Ribeira da Foupana (one of the best-preserved streams in the Algarve) and montados of cork oaks and holm oaks. The annual Feira do Campo (May) promotes mountain crafts, honey, dried fruits, and traditional sweets.
