This event is part of the 5th edition of Pedra Dura – Algarve Dance Festival.

The activity will begin with a brief intervention on reflection and the perception of symmetry and how they contribute to the construction of each individual's identity — the different elements that participate in how we recognise ourselves, represent ourselves, and relate to others — followed by a practical drawing and self-portrait workshop. In this artistic component, participants will be invited to explore the representation of themselves through self-portraiture, aiming to project elements of their identity into the produced image while also working on the relationship between the face, visual representation, and symmetries. We intend for science and artistic expression to be presented not as two independent components, but to interrelate throughout the activity: the reflection on who we are will serve as a starting point for how each participant chooses to represent themselves. At the end, the self-portraits produced by the participants will be gathered into a collective composition, forming a mural of identities that will be exhibited at the Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos. The final work will thus constitute both the artistic result of the workshop and a record of the diversity of individual identities that participated in its creation.
