The Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa hosts the photographic exhibition Algarve Marine Natural Park – Pedra do Valado, which will be open from 13 October to 30 November.
Entry is free.
The Pedra do Valado is part of one of the largest shallow coastal rock reefs in Portugal, stretching along the coast between Albufeira, Lagoa, and Silves. Its unique natural conditions support exceptional marine biodiversity, including numerous species of high commercial and conservation interest.

This event highlights the importance of ocean conservation and the role of protected marine areas in the municipalities of Lagoa, Silves, and Albufeira.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors will have access to scientific and informative content about habitats, species, ecological values, and the creation process of this protected marine area.

An internationally renowned research centre with over two decades of experience in mapping habitats and monitoring the Algarve coast, playing a key role in the creation of the Algarve Marine Natural Park.
An international initiative that supports coastal communities in the creation and management of Marine Protected Areas, promoting ocean recovery and the sustainable development of local economies.
The exhibition is dedicated to the valuable natural and cultural resources of the Algarve Marine Natural Park – Pedra do Valado, highlighting the importance of its implementation for the protection and development of a more resilient and healthy ocean.
The Photographic Exhibition at the Algarve Marine Natural Park – Pedra do Valado, the first marine protected area of the 21st century in mainland Portugal, can be visited free of charge from Tuesday to Saturday, between 14:00 and 17:00.
