Workshop on Propagation of Native Trees and Shrubs

The Municipality of Lagoa promotes the workshop "Propagation of Native Trees and Shrubs" on 21 November, from 09:30 to 13:30, at the Municipal Park of Sítio das Fontes, in Estômbar, as part of the celebrations for Native Forest Day, marked on 23 November.

This initiative, developed with the participation of Marca – Local Development Association (ADL), aims to promote knowledge, appreciation, and conservation of native flora, raising participants' awareness of the importance of native species in preserving biodiversity and balancing local ecosystems.

During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the different stages of the germination and development process of plants, as well as explore methods of propagating native trees and shrubs, namely through seeds, cuttings, and division.

Through a theoretical-practical approach, suitable techniques for collecting, preparing, handling, and cultivating plant material will be presented, allowing participants to acquire knowledge and practical skills that they can apply in the propagation and preservation of native flora species.

The activity will last four hours, including a theoretical component dedicated to the ecological importance of native flora and different propagation methods, followed by a practical component during which participants can carry out sowing and propagation exercises using cuttings.

The workshop is aimed at teachers, environmental educators, landscape architects, gardeners, council technicians, and the general community, providing an opportunity for learning and raising awareness about the conservation of natural heritage.
