II Bonsai Workshop and Exhibition with Mediterranean Species

The Municipal Park of Sítio das Fontes – Nature Interpretation Centre will host the 🌱II Bonsai Workshop and Exhibition with Mediterranean Species🎋 on 8 November at 10:00. This workshop will be organised by the Municipality of Lagoa in partnership with the Algarve Bonsai Club (CBA) and registration is free.

Workshop on Bonsai techniques with Mediterranean species. During the activity, there will be an exhibition of specimens open to the public. At the end, participants will be able to take home a tree they have worked on during the workshop.

In a casual discussion format, topics and myths about Bonsai art and techniques will be addressed, as well as basic knowledge for caring for the trees.

During the workshop, there will be opportunities to discuss history, styles and characteristics, techniques (pruning, wiring, transplanting, maintenance, watering, propagation), pests and diseases, soils and fertilisation, pots and other materials.

There will also be a conversation about Mediterranean ecosystems and their natural and cultural values, as well as the importance of their preservation. We will also discuss the advantages of using native or naturalised species and the dangers of introducing invasive species, whether for ornamental purposes or in forest plantations.

Participation is free, but registration is mandatory HERE. Registration is limited to 10 participants and will be validated on a first-come, first-served basis.
