The Golden Book

On 18 October at 16:00, the Multiplicar Silêncios association will present “The Golden Book” at the António Aleixo Cultural Centre, a performance that combines live music, singing, storytelling, theatrical interpretation, and artistic mediation, taking audiences on a musical journey through the Renaissance and Baroque, designed for children, families, and audiences of all ages.

Daniela Rodrigues, Luís Horta, Tânia Horta, Rafael Quintino, and Inês Rodrigues attend an old Music School where there is an object shrouded in mystery: the Golden Book. According to tradition, the book only opens when it finds musicians capable of understanding the true meaning of music.

Maestro Lorenzo invites three performers — Soprano, Contralto, and Baritone — to participate in a challenge that everyone believes is a competition to discover the best voice.

Throughout the various trials, the audience is taken on a musical journey through the Renaissance and Baroque, discovering different genres, styles, and forms of expression in Early Music. As the challenge progresses, the performers discover that music is not built solely through individual talent, but also through listening, dialogue, and cooperation.

The Golden Book remains closed throughout the performance. Only at the end, after the three voices unite in an ensemble performance, does the book magically open and reveal its secret.

The staged educational concert is produced by the Multiplicar Silêncios Association, co-produced by the Vila Real de Santo António Municipality and the António Aleixo Cultural Centre, and supported by CCDR Algarve and Taberna Velho Cavalinho (costumes).
