Mar a Fado in October

On 11 October, we mark a reunion with "Mar a Fado".

There are stories that begin long before they reach Marafado.

Some know its work.

Some know its space.

But there are stories behind every door, every boat, and every piece of Portimão that deserve to be told.

At the next Marafado, we will meet two people deeply connected to our city, the river, and a story that many locals know… but perhaps not in full.

“Mar a fado” is a programme created by Júlio Ferreira, Paulo Filipe, and Ruben Arnaut, which brings together the sea, fado, and marafado humour to celebrate the stories, identities, and affections that define Portimão.

Recorded on video and transformed into radio and podcast, “Mar a fado” is a space where monthly, Portimão is felt, seen, tasted, and lived.
