What do we look for? Reliving the wonderful moments. Or feel the pain all over again? Embracing lasting impressions? The warmth of a "once in a lifetime" feeling? Beware: it's also a fact that your memory is fading, details are slipping away, scenes losing their brightness or no longer exist. Distortions might creep in, and events drop out entirely or become overlaid. Both in terms of colours and emotions.

Monika Wildenburg and Lidija Schrage will take you on a tour of thoughts in this exhibition.

Lidija Schrage, born in the Netherlands, translates these thoughts through her raw, direct photographic artwork of multi-layered memories. She's amplifying memory and altering perception by using large sheets of delicate fabric or carton and limewash paint, in small boxes or larger photoprints. What do I see? The work currently on display was shot primarily in Cape Verde. Curious? Visit lidijaschrage.com

Monika Wildenburg, born in Germany. Her journey into art began with the study of sculpture in Maastricht (NL). Sculpture, however, demands space—a physical space that she did not always have. Out of this necessity emerged a fruitful detour: an intensive exploration of painting and its effect on the surface. Ultimately, she was drawn back to the three-dimensional. It is this one decisive extra dimension that, for her, makes “reality” more immediate and tangible. Although she often feels a strong urge to touch art when visiting exhibitions, she asks the viewer to experience her work through the senses alone. For her, intellectual understanding has no place in art. On the contrary, art is not something to be understood or explained—it is something to be experienced. For her, art is: “Everything else!!”
