Photography Exhibition | Algarve Marine Natural Park - Pedra do Valado

The Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa will host the Photography Exhibition Algarve Marine Natural Park - Pedra do Valado, from 13 October to 30 November. Entry is free.

Pedra do Valado is part of one of the largest shallow coastal rock reefs in Portugal, extending along the coast between Albufeira, Lagoa, and Silves. Its unique natural conditions support exceptional marine biodiversity, including numerous species of high commercial and conservation interest.

Developed by the Oceano Azul Foundation, in collaboration with CCMAR and the Revive Our Ocean initiative, the exhibition aims to raise awareness among the Algarve communities, especially those in the municipalities of Lagoa, Silves, and Albufeira, about the importance of ocean conservation and the role of protected marine areas.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors will have access to scientific and informative content about habitats, species, ecological values, and the process of creating this protected marine area.

Oceano Azul Foundation An international foundation established in 2016, whose mission is to promote concrete actions and decisive commitments to protect life on the planet through science-based conservation and the transformation of ocean protection policies.

CCMAR – Centre for Marine Science of the Algarve An internationally renowned research centre with over two decades of experience in habitat mapping and monitoring the Algarve coast, playing a crucial role in the creation of the Algarve Marine Natural Park.

Revive Our Ocean An international initiative that supports coastal communities in creating and managing Marine Protected Areas, promoting ocean recovery and the sustainable development of local economies. The exhibition is dedicated to the valuable natural and cultural resources of the Algarve Marine Natural Park – Pedra do Valado, highlighting the importance of its implementation for the protection and construction of a more resilient and healthier ocean.

The Photography Exhibition Algarve Marine Natural Park – Pedra do Valado, the first marine protected area of the 21st century in mainland Portugal, can be visited free of charge, from Tuesday to Saturday, between 14:00 and 17:00.
