Exhibition "Null Friction"

We live in the era of infinite scrolling, inhabiting a state of Null Friction: information slides past us without transforming us, making us polished surfaces where nothing adheres. It is the opposite of resistance.

In this exhibition, three young artists recently graduated from the University of Algarve — Iara, Morgana, and Sandra — summon art as a territory of deceleration in the face of this anesthetizing speed. Their works emerge as gestures of resistance. By countering the invisible flow of everyday life, they seek to create permanence, restore thickness to matter, and reestablish friction so that art can have a real impact.
