This workshop offers a chance to learn the different stages and techniques of palm weaving, from braiding the leaves into a ribbon to sewing it to create a small basket.

About the activity: Palm weaving is a traditional basketry technique from the Algarve, using dried leaves from the dwarf palm (Chamaerops humilis). The workshop will begin with an introduction to the history of palm weaving and the process of harvesting and drying the plant. Participants will then learn the various stages of the technique, from braiding the palm leaves into a ribbon to sewing it to create a small basket.
