Pink October Walk

Portimão walks and runs again for breast cancer prevention.

On 25 October, the Riverside Area of Portimão will host the Pink October Walk, an initiative that combines physical activity with raising awareness about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer.

Part of the Regional Walking/Running Calendar of the Algarve, promoted by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), the initiative invites the community to participate in a morning of sport, health, and solidarity, with routes of 5 and 8 km.

The programme starts at 8:30 AM with the opening of registration and collection of participant kits. At 9:30 AM, there will be a group warm-up, followed by the start of the walk/run at 10:00 AM.

Participation is free, with the option to purchase a kit for 5 euros, which includes a t-shirt, a piece of fruit, and a bottle of water.

All proceeds from this event will support the ongoing mission of the Portuguese League Against Cancer – Southern Regional Nucleus, in assisting cancer patients and their families.

Kits can be collected in advance at various municipal sports facilities in Portimão and at the Faro Support Group of the Portuguese League Against Cancer, or on the day of the event, between 8:30 AM and 9:15 AM.
