Supposedly presented to prove to some gossips that she could create original plays, the Farce of Inês Pereira was written from the saying "I prefer a donkey that carries me than a horse that throws me off". Inês Pereira, who chooses her own future and will learn lessons for new life choices as a result of her decision, may make this farce, written and performed over 500 years ago, one of the first critiques of the role of women in marriage.
