XXII Grand Chapter of the Algarve Gastronomes Brotherhood

Portimão will once again host one of the most significant enogastronomic meetings in the country, welcoming the XXII Grand Chapter of the Algarve Gastronomes Brotherhood, which will gather around two hundred members from Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Italy, and Greece.

The event also includes the X Gala of the Order of Santa Maria de Ossónoba, a ceremony that honours individuals and entities that stand out in promoting Algarve, national, and European gastronomy. Simultaneously, the XXVIII Chapter / XXII Grand Chapter will take place, the most important moment for the brotherhood, dedicated to celebrating gastronomy, brotherhood, and the excellence of the region's products and professionals.

Programme Highlights

The programme, already recognised as a reference in the annual calendar of the Brotherhood, centres around the solemn ceremony of the enthronement of new members of Honour, Merit, and Number during the Grand Chapter. At the Gala of the Order, 11 personalities linked to gastronomy, wines, and the brotherhood movement will also be awarded.

This year's edition also highlights the promotion of the cultural identity of Portimão, the host city that asserts itself as a destination of gastronomic excellence.

3rd October

The Noble Hall of the Portimão Municipal Chamber will host the official opening of the XXII Grand Chapter in the early afternoon, with welcomes from the municipal executive and Grand Master José António Nunes, president of the host brotherhood.

At 16:30, accompanied by the sounds of the Portimão Philharmonic Society, the members will parade through the streets of the city to the Church of the College of Jesuits, where the chapter ceremony will take place with brotherhoods from across the country and various European countries. Among those being enthroned is Carla Salsinha, president of the Regional Tourism Entity of the Lisbon Region, who will receive the title of Honourary Member.

In the evening, from 20:00, the Algarve Casino Hotel at Praia da Rocha will host the Chapter Dinner and Gala, along with the ceremony for awarding the decorations of the Order of Santa Maria de Ossónoba, concluding with the show “Golden Hour”.

Recognition and Mission

The Gala of the Santa Maria de Ossónoba Awards recognises those who contribute to elevating Algarve, Portuguese, and European gastronomy, constituting a public recognition by the Algarve Gastronomes Brotherhood. The Grand Chapter reinforces the Brotherhood's mission to preserve and promote the cultural and gastronomic heritage of the region.

Open to the Public
