No one likes to wait. It's a waste of time. Things are good when they happen, not when you're waiting for them. And there are so many fun things waiting to happen. If only there were a recipe to fill the time and end the boredom. If it doesn't exist yet, it can be invented: just weigh, mix, shake, separate, and wait. Wait?! That's not happening!
An initiative of the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II and the "la Caixa" Foundation, in collaboration with BPI, and in partnership with the National Arts Plan and the councils of Lagos, Ourém, and Ponte de Lima.
Established in 2015, Boca Aberta is a theatre project designed to provide new creative experiences for children aged three and above, while promoting critical thinking and empowering education and culture professionals working with these age groups. It presents performances in familiar school spaces, challenging children and sparking their curiosity and imagination.
In 2024, Boca Aberta will expand its reach to various regions of the country and incorporate additional activities, such as thought events and training for education and culture professionals. This three-year project will closely collaborate with several regional partners, equipping them with tools for intervention, mediation, and artistic creation. In this new phase, in partnership with the councils of Lagos, Ourém, and Ponte de Lima, the project aims to foster the establishment of professional artistic structures outside major urban centres, dedicated to creating works for children, through an action plan that includes mentoring, training, funding, and the creation of a support network for three emerging companies.
