“PRESENCES” at the Convent of the Holy Spirit
The Art Gallery of the Convent of the Holy Spirit in Loulé presents "Presences" by Belgian artist Véronique Sabban, curated by João Serrão. This exhibition marks the artist's debut outside Belgium and showcases three decades of work (1996–2026), focusing on her continuous and obsessive exploration of the human face.
Blending painting and sculpture, the exhibition contrasts the visceral and fluid gesture of brushstrokes on canvas with the physical and tactile process of three-dimensional pieces. Moving away from conventional figurative representation, the artist views the face as an infinite territory, where matter and stain embody the interiority and vulnerability of the human condition.
