Portimão is a finalist in the 7 Wonders of Portugal

The municipality of Portimão reaffirms itself as a territory of excellence, with three of its most emblematic heritages selected for the public voting phase of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal®.

After the evaluation by the Panel of Experts, which analyzed 328 applications submitted nationwide, the Portimão Arena, the Portimão Marina, and the Portimão Museum were distinguished as finalists, recognizing their historical, cultural, architectural, and touristic value.

Category XXI – Portimão Arena

Category Major Works – Portimão Marina

Category Tourism – Portimão Museum

This distinction represents an important recognition of the identity and cultural heritage of Portimão, reinforcing the role of these spaces in enhancing the municipality and the region.

Regional Semi-Final

The Algarve Regional Semi-Final took place on June 27, at Jardim Pescador Olhanense, in Olhão, as part of a special broadcast of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal®.

The Regional Semi-Finals take place between June 13 and July 11, 2026, gathering, in each of the seven regions of the country, 21 heritages — three from each of the seven categories. The two most voted heritages from each category secure a spot in the Regional Final.

Voting is conducted by the public through a phone call and the TVI Pass application, costing €1 + VAT per vote. The entire process is audited by PwC, ensuring the transparency of the competition.

The list of the 98 identified heritage sites will be announced on July 11, 2026.

Final Regional

The Algarve Regional Final will take place on July 27th at 3:00 PM, in a special broadcast from Faro.

In this phase, 14 heritages will be in competition — two from each category — with the most voted from each category advancing to the National Semi-Final.

The Regional Finals take place between July 18 and August 29, 2026, culminating in the selection of the 49 heritage sites that will advance to the national phase. As in previous phases, voting occurs via phone call and the TVI Pass app, and is also audited by PwC.

The 49 regional finalist heritage sites will be announced on August 29, 2026.

The national phases

September 5 – National Semi-Final, where the 49 winning heritage sites from the seven regions compete for the 21 spots in the Grand Final.

September 12 – National Grand Final, live and in prime time on TVI, where the new 7 Wonders of Portugal® will be revealed.
