NÁCAR is a performative proposal reflecting on the forgetfulness and fiction of memories. From the Arabic naqqára, meaning 'drum', nácar is a hard, iridescent substance rich in limestone, produced by some molluscs, which lines the interiors of various shells and is also released as a reaction to a body. In “Nácar”, Bruno Senune reflects on the fact that he has virtually no archive (photographs, videos, drawings) from his childhood. Additionally, the shares from those close to him are rare, muffled, and disconnected. This absence has formed in his memory a distant, inventive period filled with assumptions. This project arises from the need to celebrate a space and what it represents to honour the irony of what is vague yet so certain and dazzling.
