This event is part of the 5th edition of Pedra Dura – Algarve Dance Festival.

Inspired by the dreamlike quality of surrealist experimental cinema, particularly the work of filmmaker Maya Deren, HURLE is a dive into the unconscious. The film explores the relationships between the visible and the invisible, between the exterior and the interior, between the conscious and the unconscious.

Set against mineral and forest landscapes, we follow an oracle woman and her prophetic hallucinations. Mirrors serve as breaches in time and space. We oscillate between the natural environment and inner visions. The soundtrack is entirely created from vocal recordings. The voice, treated as a material in metamorphosis, becomes at times wind, smoke, or birds — blending with the surrounding environment — and at other times returns to being human, in a liberating cry of rage.
