Join Victor Hugo Faustino, architect and leading expert on the work of Manuel Gomes da Costa, for a 2-hour walk through Faro's most significant modernist landmarks. Drawing on his acclaimed Master's thesis — "Manuel Gomes da Costa and Modern Architecture in Faro" — Victor Hugo brings an exceptional depth of knowledge to every building on the route: the architectural decisions, the historical context, the personal stories behind the facades.

Together, you will explore how Gomes da Costa's distinctive approach to space, light, and materiality helped define the identity of a city in the mid-20th century and why his legacy matters today.

The tour includes an exclusive open house inside one of MGC's residential buildings — a rare opportunity to step beyond the facade and experience the architecture from within, guided by someone who has spent years studying every detail of its conception.

About your guide

Victor Hugo Faustino holds a Master's in Architecture from the University of Évora and a Bachelor's in Landscape Architecture from the University of the Algarve. Over 12 years, he has worked on projects in Portugal, Kuwait, and Spain. His Master's thesis, "Manuel Gomes da Costa and Modern Architecture in Faro", is the most comprehensive study of the architect's life and work to date. Based in the Netherlands, he is currently Senior Technical Architect at an urban planning and landscape architecture office in Rotterdam, working on projects across Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.
