The establishment of the Republic was one of the most significant moments in Portuguese history. While Lisbon was the main stage of the revolution that ended centuries of monarchy, Lagos particularly celebrated the new regime on 5 October 1910. After all, Lagos was one of the Portuguese municipalities with a republican executive during the monarchy. This talk will recall the city's relationship with republicanism and how the 1910 Revolution was experienced.
