CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP: THE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CRISIS, with David Roque

The objectives of the Creative Writing Workshops are primarily to develop a love for writing and reading, as well as to stimulate individual talents and skills for written fiction, framing them within theoretical plans and concrete technical procedures. The course proposes a blend of art and science, inspiration and discipline, wonder and realisation.

The programme focuses on teaching some basic theoretical notions, but mainly on providing specific writing techniques, particularly concentrated on character construction and articulation. The secret of creative writing lies in writing… and writing even more, reading… and reading even more, observing and critiquing. Above all, the safest method is to do, because creativity and creation are two twin words.

BIOGRAPHY: David Eduardo Vicente Roque, originally from Portimão, was raised from an early age in Ferragudo, from the age of six, in what he considers his place of choice and solace. He graduated in History from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, with a postgraduate degree in teaching. He has been a public school teacher since 2003, also developing training work through IEFP. From his collaboration with the Cultural and Sports Association of Ferragudo, in the area of culture and library administration, he began leading a series of courses dedicated to creative writing since 2002.

Free parking - The Centro Cultural de Lagos and the Municipal Library of Lagos offer free parking at the Frente Ribeirinha park (Avenida dos Descobrimentos) for the audience of their shows/events. To receive the discount, users must present a stamp obtained at the ticket office of the Centro Cultural de Lagos or the entrance of the Municipal Library of Lagos. The offer applies only one hour before and up to one hour after each show/event.
