French Film of the Month 26

For the ninth consecutive year, the cycle "French Film of the Month" returns to Portimão to celebrate the best of French cinema. This initiative, resulting from a partnership between the Alliance Française do Algarve and the Friends of the Portimão Museum Group (GAMP), aims to strengthen cultural ties with local associations and showcase major successes in the "language of Molière" to the Algarve audience.

The program also aims to attract the growing French community residing or visiting the Algarve, offering an opportunity for cultural exchange and contact with regional history and heritage through the museum space.

The 2026 edition features a diverse selection of seven films that represent the vitality of contemporary French cinema. The sessions take place at 9:00 PM at the Portimão Museum Auditorium, with free entry and films subtitled in Portuguese.

The cycle begins on January 29 with the feature film "Une affaire de principe" (2024). A thriller directed by Antoine Raimbault, based on real events about a conspiracy within European institutions in Brussels.

April 30 – "Le quatrième mur", by David Oelhoffen;

May 28 – "Mélodie en sous-sol", by Henri Verneuil;

June 25 – "Fragile", by Emma Benestan;

September 24 – "Fifi", by Paul Saintillan and Jeanne Aslan.
