New Tides – Young Artists 2026 There is always a moment when a new generation begins to draw its place, a moment when the first works leave the space of learning to find the gaze of the public, inaugurating paths that are still being asserted. New Tides arises from this encounter, bringing together painting, sculpture, and drawing from young artists linked to the Visual Arts course at the University of Algarve, including students nearing completion of their training, recent graduates, and creators who have already begun an exhibition path. Different languages, different materials, and multiple concerns intersect in an exhibition that seeks to reveal the plurality of voices that today emerge from contemporary artistic creation in the Algarve. Like the tides, art also lives on movements, advances, discoveries, transformations, and returns. This exhibition assumes itself as a territory of passage, where the experimental gesture coexists with a growing artistic maturity and where each work points to future possibilities, without losing the freedom inherent in beginnings. República 14 aims for NEW TIDES to be more than an exhibition; it wants it to become a commitment to the future of artistic creation in the region, a space of visibility for emerging artists and a bridge between the University of Algarve, its students, and the community. By hosting this dialogue between training and artistic practice, it also affirms the importance of creating contexts where talent can grow, be seen, and recognized. This first edition inaugurates a cycle that is desired to be lasting. Annually, "NEW TIDES – Young Artists" will seek to accompany the emergence of new creators, celebrating the permanent renewal of the artistic landscape of the Algarve and contributing for each new generation to find its time, its space, and its audience.
