There is always someone who knows someone. There is always one of us who knows someone who has done it. Another knows who can do it. There is always someone who shows us the way, or someone who takes us there. We may not want to see it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. After all, there is always someone who knows someone.

Based on the history of abortion in Portugal, marking nearly two decades since its decriminalisation at the request of the woman, we reflect on this history through the lens of female solidarity and shared knowledge, revisiting the trials, the two referendums, and the mobilisation of civil society that transformed the country.
