The exhibition "Creativity has No Age" brings together works that reflect a journey of learning, experimentation, and rediscovery of creative capacity.
Many of the participants had their first contact with drawing and painting at this stage of life, while others resumed an artistic practice interrupted decades ago.
Each work represents not only an aesthetic result but also a process of discovery, persistence, confidence, and overcoming. More than a painting exhibition, this exhibition invites the public to learn about life stories transformed by the creative experience, highlighting that art is a powerful tool for learning, social participation, personal development, and well-being. Because creativity has no age: it resists, waits, and is reborn whenever it finds an opportunity to express itself.
The authors of this exhibition are senior artists who found in art an opportunity to explore creativity, develop new skills, and express their experiences.
With very distinct life paths, some discovered drawing and painting for the first time at this stage of life; others rediscovered a passion that had been dormant for decades. Regardless of previous experience, all accepted the challenge to learn, experiment, and create.
The works presented reflect a journey of artistic and personal growth, where each stroke and each color translate not only a technical learning but also memories, emotions, and life stories. This exhibition celebrates creativity as a capacity that accompanies human beings at all ages, demonstrating that it is never too late to discover new talents and new forms of expression.
The Senior Social Centers of Aldeia das Sobreiras and Portimão are municipal structures that represent a social response aimed at the senior community of Portimão, enhancing the effectiveness of a biopsychosocial support, through the development of a diverse plan of socio-recreational and cultural activities, organized and driven by the active participation of the users.
In this context, various workshops in painting, creative writing, yoga, RGM, dance, among others, are developed.
The Painting Workshop, led by visual artist Márcia Guilardi, aims to promote the development of creativity, cognitive stimulation, fine motor skills, concentration, and emotional expression, through a methodology that combines technical learning with the appreciation of individual expression and the creative journey of each participant.
