As part of the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve's mission to educate audiences and develop artistic skills, this event offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from one of the most recognised voices in international jazz. Polly Gibbons' musical approach, situated at the intersection of Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Soul, and R&B, makes this masterclass particularly relevant for performers looking to enhance not only their vocal technique but also their artistic personality, communication, and storytelling through music.

SOUND CAPSULES — MASTERCLASS WITH POLLY GIBBONS Conducted in English, the masterclass will cover various dimensions of vocal and interpretative work, including:

• body and vocal warm-up; • breathing techniques; • choice of keys and repertoire; • microphone use; • stage presence and communication; • phrasing and interpretation; • improvisation; • different technical and stylistic approaches to singing.

This initiative is particularly aimed at singers, musicians, art students, and young performers wishing to deepen their knowledge and develop technical and interpretative skills. Participation is also open to the general public aged 16 and over, providing a learning experience with an artist of international acclaim. Spaces are limited and require prior registration.

POLLY GIBBONS She is a British singer, songwriter, and producer with over two decades of experience in the international jazz circuit. Her artistic language blends jazz, blues, soul, gospel, and R&B, exploring a vocal approach marked by expressiveness, mastery of phrasing, and a strong connection between interpretation and emotion. Throughout her career, she has been nominated twice for the Best Jazz Vocalist award by the BBC and Jazz FM, building an international profile that has seen her perform in some of the most important venues and festivals in the genre. Highlights include performances at the Royal Albert Hall in London, opening for George Benson and Gladys Knight, and a residency at the legendary Birdland Jazz Club in New York. She is also a regular at the historic Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London. Her discography includes works released by the prestigious American label Resonance Records, notably Many Faces of Love, Is It Me...?, and All I Can Do. Her latest album of originals, As It Is, also showcases her work as a songwriter, pianist, and producer. In 2026, Polly continues to develop new projects, including collaboration with the Carducci String Quartet.
