“The Girl with Big Eyes” at the Library

Catarina Lopes, daughter of fishermen, grows up marked by poverty and decides to emigrate to London in search of a better life, accompanied by her friend Paula. Working as a housekeeper, she meets Philippe, a much older man who, after becoming a widower, proposes an unusual marriage: to ensure her financial security in exchange for two children. Catarina accepts, believing that she will one day experience great love.

Decades later, at her husband's funeral, she encounters Francis Richard, with whom she feels an immediate attraction. However, she soon discovers that this passion is entwined with a dark past linked to Philippe and John Morgan, an old friend who became an enemy over a past love.

Amidst secrets, promises, and revenge, Catarina sees her dream threatened by forces she never imagined facing.
