IX Great Soapbox Race

The tradition returns to the streets of Mexilhoeira Grande on 26 and 27 September with the Great Soapbox Race.

The largest and craziest soapbox race returns for its 9th edition on 27 September, starting at 3:00pm on Rua Francisco Bívar.

Built by the participants themselves, without engines and powered only by gravity, the soapboxes will once again challenge the slopes of the village in an event where speed and creativity go hand in hand.

In addition to the traditional race, this year's edition will feature a night race, the SUPER SPECIAL F1, on 26 September at 9:00pm on the Estrada da Fonte track (better known as Ladeira da Fonte) connecting Mexilhoeira Grande to Figueira, where the adrenaline of speed and the spectacle promise to be the highlight of the night.

More than just a race, the event revives a pastime from the past and transforms it into a celebration for different generations, bringing together participants, families, and visitors around a tradition marked by imagination and community spirit.
