III National Meeting of Heritage Students
5 to 7 November 2026
All day
Amphitheatre 1.5, in the Auditorium building, at the Penha Campus.
The University of Algarve will host the 3rd National Meeting of Heritage Students (ENEP) on 5th, 6th, and 7th November at the Penha Campus, Auditorium 1.5.
The ENEP (National Meeting of Heritage Students) began in 2023, initiated by Heritage students from the University of Évora. Its second edition took place in 2025, organised by students from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Porto. In 2026, the meeting will be organised by students of Heritage, History, and Archaeology from the first, second, and third cycles of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the University of Algarve.
In a time marked by profound transformations in Cultural Heritage, particularly concerning communities and landscapes, the meeting proposes a reflection focused on the rural world and its achievements, which are often sidelined in the context of heritage.
This theme is particularly relevant in 2026, designated by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Year of Pastures and Pastoralists (IYPP 2026) and the International Year of Women Farmers (IYWF 2026). The III ENEP aims to highlight the importance of the rural world and its heritage in contemporary society.
The event aims to promote dialogue, critical reflection, and knowledge sharing among students, researchers, heritage professionals, and civil society, based on a plural and integrated view of the concept of heritage.
Among its objectives are:
This event aims to promote the communication of tangible and intangible heritage as testimonies of the history of communities and their territories.
It seeks to contribute to the scientific and ethical training of future professionals, encouraging innovative and sustainable approaches to heritage management.
The event will also promote the inclusion of multiple perspectives and collective responsibility in safeguarding heritage.
Research and methodologies developed by students will be shared, fostering synergies between universities.
