This concert is part of the 4th edition of the Costa Vicentina Early Music Fest.
To commemorate the International Day of Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition (August 23), this initiative is aimed at emerging artists in the field of historically informed music, between Portugal and the World, featuring the selected project: the Ensemble Àpala (with musicians awarded at the Young Musicians Prize).
The program focuses on the manuscript M.M. 4824 by Pedro Lopes Nogueira (c. 1720), preserved in the National Library of Portugal, and also includes an improvisation on the recitation of abolitionist excerpts from "The Slave Ship", by Castro Alves (19th century).
