World Tourism Day Celebrated in Portimão

In 2026, World Tourism Day has the theme "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism".

This event is celebrated annually on 27 September to raise awareness of the importance of this sector as a driver of economic, social, cultural, and political development globally.

This year, the promoting entity, UN Tourism, aims to highlight the contribution of technological innovation, such as artificial intelligence, to shape the future of travel, make destinations smarter, and optimise sector management.

In Portimão, on 27 September, Sunday, all visitors (both national and international) will have free entry to the Portimão Museum, between 10:00 and 18:00.

Souvenirs will be distributed at the venue.

On 28 September, between 11:00 and 12:00, there will be a Round Table: "Navigating the Future: Digital Strategies for Competitive Tourism Businesses".

The speakers include Sandra Pereira, Vice-President of the Portimão Municipal Council, Ricardo Sobral, Member of the Portimão Tourism Association, Miguel Portugal, Director of the Tourism Management Course at ISMAT, and Pedro Moreira, Director of the Portimão School of Hospitality and Tourism.
