On 29 October, Thursday, the Higher School of Education and Communication (ESEC) at the University of Algarve (UAlg) will host the conference "Sports Journalism in Portugal: Ethics and Proximity". The event will take place in the afternoon at the Paulo Freire Amphitheatre (Room 67) at ESEC, Penha Campus (Faro), and is open to the entire academic community.
This event is part of a partnership between the Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences, which celebrates five years of the Sports Communication module, and the CNID – National Association of Sports Journalists, which this year marks its 60th anniversary.
The panel of guests includes journalists, sports commentators, and photographers from various media outlets, both national and regional.
Ethics and proximity are the focus of the two sessions that aim to address the current state of national sports journalism, considering the many challenges it faces in the digital age and the significant media attention on sports phenomena in the public sphere, as well as the specifics of sports journalism coverage in the Algarve region.
The organisation and coverage of the event will be managed by third-year students from the Sports Communication module in the Communication Sciences course.
The event poster is attached, and all information will be updated on the platforms and social media of ESEC/UAlg and CNID.
