Like Canned Sardines - Dancenema

The itinerant performance begins on the sands of Praia da Rocha, traversing the urban space to the Fortress of Santa Catarina.

Through contemporary artistic language, the performance explores the metaphor of physical, social, and urban “compression” as a reflection of the tensions caused by the intensive use of motorised individual transport. Congestion, noise, excessive occupation of public space, and the environmental impact associated with greenhouse gas emissions become material for reflection on how we inhabit, move through, and share the city.

A performative journey about a “canned” society, where movement becomes resistance and the body a place of questioning.
