In 2026, Porches will celebrate the 740th anniversary of the granting of its Foral by D. Dinis, given on August 20, 1286. This important anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate the History, identity, and roots of a community with over seven centuries of existence. The Foral represents a fundamental milestone in the affirmation of Porches as an organized community and allows us to better understand the economic and social reality of the time, deeply connected to the territory, agriculture, vineyards, fishing, commerce, and artisanal activities. Among these, the production of ceramics stands out, a tradition that has crossed generations and remains today as one of the main marks of Porches' identity. The relationship with the sea also plays a fundamental role in the history and evolution of the community. Over the centuries, Porches has undergone profound transformations, but many of the elements that marked its history remain present in the life of the parish. Celebrating the 740 years of the Foral is, therefore, a way to remember the generations that built this land, value the heritage and traditions passed down to us, and recognize all those who continue to contribute to the construction of Porches in the present.
