Synopsis: In Ghost Elephants, explorer Dr. Steve Boyes accompanies three master trackers on a spiritual and scientific quest for the ghost elephants of Angola. In this documentary by Werner Herzog, Dr. Steve Boyes, an environmentalist and presenter for National Geographic, embarks on a journey in search of the sacred ghost elephants—isolated populations of African forest elephants rarely seen by humans—in the heart of Angola. Alongside three Namibian master trackers, Boyes engages in a "Moby Dick"-like mission that awakens spiritual and existential questions within himself and prompts reflections for the audience on environmental conservation and the culture of traditional peoples of the African continent.
