In Ghost Elephants, explorer Dr. Steve Boyes accompanies three master trackers on a spiritual and scientific quest for Angola's ghost elephants. In this documentary by Werner Herzog, Dr. Boyes, an environmentalist and presenter for National Geographic, embarks on a journey in search of the sacred ghost elephants — isolated populations of African forest elephants rarely seen by humans — in the heart of Angola. Alongside three Namibian master trackers, Boyes engages in a mission "à la Moby Dick" that raises spiritual and existential questions within himself and prompts reflections on environmental conservation and the culture of traditional peoples of the African continent.
