National iQFOiL Championship

On June 20 and 21, Portimão will host the National iQFOiL Championship, one of the newest and most exciting disciplines in sailing, currently included in the Olympic program. The competition will take place off the Praia da Rocha, providing a sporting spectacle marked by the speed, technique, and skill of the competing athletes.

Rapidly growing in Portugal, the iQFOiL class represents the evolution of traditional windsurfing, using boards equipped with foils, a technology that allows the board to rise above the water's surface, achieving impressive speeds and providing highly competitive performance.

The event will bring together athletes from various regions of the country, including some of the top national practitioners of the discipline, who will compete for the national champion title in the waters of Portimão.

In addition to the competitive aspect, the event serves as an opportunity to promote water sports and highlight the unique natural conditions of the Portimão coast for sailing and other sea-related activities.

The National iQFOiL Championship will take place between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM and is organized by the Portuguese Sailing Federation, the Regional Sailing Association of the South, and the Naval Club of Portimão.
