Linocut Workshop

The Linocut Workshop is the first of nine activities in the Young Creativity project, one of the four winners of the 2025-26 edition of the Participatory Budget for Youth (OPJ) in Portimão, and will take place from 7 to 11 September 2026, daily from 14:30 to 18:30.

This first session will be led by Beatriz Aboim, a young plastic artist and sculptor, who will be at Lugar do Rio - Espaço Jovem de Portimão to guide participants, with or without prior experience in linocut, through the different stages of this technique, allowing attendees to create their own prints.

Over five days, and taking advantage of the last moments of free time before returning to school, the workshop will cover the different phases of the creative process, from brainstorming and planning the composition to defining light-dark areas, handling gouges and other tools, and finally printing on paper and fabric.

At the end, each student will keep their matrix (linoleum block), the prints, and a personalised tote bag with their creations.
