Book by José Alberto Quaresma, presented by David Roque. It inaugurates the new Series Presidents of the Republic, within the collection Great Portuguese Lives.
Teixeira Gomes was born in Portimão. He traveled the world. He was a writer, diplomat, and President of the Republic. With some change in his pocket, he also did many other things in life. Between laziness and willpower, he was a bohemian, traveler, owner, merchant, music lover, and art collector. Driven by intelligence, sensitivity, and open-mindedness, he never ceased to be a free man.
Always with his feet on the ground and his head held high. A friend to his friend. Elegant, indifferent, or caustic, against some envious or enemy. He found himself in the pleasure of his writing, inspired by the experience, knowledge, and contemplation of humanity's artistic expressions, throughout all times. In his last journey, he tells his life to a young person who does not regret giving him a little attention. In the conversation, he opens the book of his life. This very one that dares to be revealed here.
