This edition of the magazine “National Geographic History” is dedicated to the figure of Infante D. Henrique and the role of Lagos in the beginning of the Portuguese maritime expansion. The session will feature guest speaker João Paulo Oliveira e Costa, a historian, university professor, and Portuguese researcher, specializing in Portuguese maritime expansion and the history of the 15th and 16th centuries. He holds a PhD in History and has conducted studies on the Discoveries, the Portuguese Empire, and the relations between Portugal and Asia. An author of numerous reference works, he is known for his scientific dissemination and academic rigor, contributing to the knowledge of Portuguese history through research, teaching, and widely recognized publications. He has collaborated with the Portuguese edition of National Geographic since 2006.
