2nd Algarve Economic Congress

Portimão will host the 2nd Algarve Economic Congress on 29th September from 09:00 to 13:00, an initiative promoted by ACRAL – Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region, which will bring together entrepreneurs, specialists, and representatives of institutions at the Portimão Museum to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the region's economic future.

With the support of the Portimão Municipal Council, the congress continues from the first edition held in 2025, proposing a programme focused on different strategic areas for the economic development of the Algarve, highlighting innovation, technology, digital transformation, energy, water, the blue economy, territory, talent, and the productive fabric.

The opening session, scheduled for 09:30, will feature speeches from the president of the Portimão Municipal Council, Álvaro Bila, the president of ACRAL, Paulo Alentejano, the president of CCDR Algarve, José Apolinário, and the curator of the Congress, Miguel Frasquilho.

The programme continues at 10:00 with the panel “Innovation, Technology and Digital Transformation”, featuring Cristina Rodrigues, CEO of Capgemini Portugal, Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, chairman of the Board of Directors of Vila Galé Group, and Amélia Santos, co-founder and CEO of Innuos, moderated by Miguel Frasquilho.

At 10:50, the panel “Energy, Water and the Blue Economy” will include Luís Mira Amaral, former Minister of Industry and Energy, Duarte Cordeiro, former Minister of Environment and Climate Action, and Alexandra Teodósio, rector of the University of Algarve. The panel will be moderated by Bernardo Blanco, VP Nexus and managing partner of Basi.la.

The third panel, “Coherent Algarve: Territory, Talent and Productive Fabric”, will start at 12:00 and will feature António Pina, president of AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, Eduardo Batista Correia, CEO of Taguspark, and João Vieira Lopes, former president of CCP.

The congress will conclude with remarks from the Minister of State and Administrative Reform, Gonçalo Saraiva Matias.

Participation in the 2nd Algarve Economic Congress is open to entrepreneurs, managers, entrepreneurs, representatives of local authorities and institutions, the academic community, students, and the general public.
