Lights, camera, action: 'Fitinhas' returns with the biggest animation hits of the past year

The major highlights of animation return in 2026. The “Fitinhas” presents, in the first half of the year, a selection of six children's films that have recently hit theaters and are now being shown again in the NOS Cinemas, both at MAR Shopping Algarve and MAR Shopping Matosinhos. This children's cinema initiative, which started 12 years ago at MAR Shopping Matosinhos and expanded to MAR Shopping Algarve three years ago, aims to provide a free and accessible cultural option for most families. The promise remains: to enchant the youngest audience with titles they have not yet had the opportunity to see or that they will love to revisit. With plenty of action, adventure, and emotion, the programming will be the same in both meeting places. Fun and memorable moments for all families are guaranteed.

On stage, on the first Saturday of January, the 3rd, will be the film “Mauzões 2”. Everyone's favorite criminals are back, and this time they have company. In the new action-packed chapter about a group of outlaw animals, the Mauzões, now retired, are trying (very, very hard) to be good, but instead find themselves involved in a high-stakes heist on a global scale, planned by a new team of criminals they never imagined: The Mazonas.

On February 7, it’s time for “Smurfs: The Great Movie”. In an effort to achieve Total Evil Domination, the wizards Gargamel and his brother Razamel decide to kidnap the Great Smurf, leaving the Smurf village in a tremendous uproar. Determined to resolve the situation, with the support of her companions, the fearless Smurfina leads a rescue mission. This is how they end up in the city of Paris, in the real world, where they face various adversaries but also find unexpected allies, including Ken, the brave brother of the Great Smurf and a group of Punzinhos.

“Gabby's Dollhouse – The Movie” is the next proposal on the “Fitinhas” poster and can be watched on March 7. This is the story of Gabby and her grandmother Gigi's journey, which takes an unexpected turn when Gabby's precious dollhouse ends up in the hands of the eccentric cat lady, Vera. Gabby embarks on an adventure to gather the Gabby Cats and recover her beloved dollhouse before it’s too late.

The session on April 4 brings another hit to the NOS Cinemas at MAR Shopping Algarve and MAR Shopping Matosinhos. In “Wicked: For Good”, despite a troubled beginning, witches Elphaba and Glinda become allies in the fight against the tyranny of the Wizard of Oz. But in this second film, the challenges increase: the relationship between Elphaba and Glinda is tested by forces that threaten to destroy everything they have built. And while the former becomes a fugitive known as the “Wicked Witch of the West”, the latter rises to the Wizard's court as the “Good Witch”.
